Moisture forms in the ashen colored sky.
Falling from the swollen clouds, droplets tickle the Earth.
The cooling wind embraces my soul, smothering me with its crushing power,
as an aroma of fresh blooms twists the air.
The leaves of Autumn lay sodden, clinging to the blades of grass.
I stare endlessly into a puddle of colors, morphing as the ripples flow to the edge;
my muddled reflection hides within, reflecting what light is left in my eyes.
I lift my head and pause, gazing at the beauty of my surroundings.
Fauna and Flora litter the fields; spots of color here and there.
Pungent purple teases my nose with its fragrance,
the green glistening with a sparkling crystal dew.
Oh how the flirtatious rain tastes so sweet, dancing lively on my tongue.
My ears rejoice to the song of the storm.
I stand outside and lift my head up high, listening to the clouds.
The sweet lullaby they play when they cry, emotions shed,
can, on even the darkest days, give me hope.

Author notes
Rain gives me peace. I love the rain, for me the sun should never come out. Let it rain forever.

GLOOMY JOY!
OMG! I love the rain too. Although I don't wish for it to rain forever cause then the whole earth my flood and everbody will drown. LOL! But anyhew, this is an incredible poem. Not nearly as good as the first poem I reviewed of yours, "I Am Your Slave," but still quite amazing. It possess a gloomy happiness to it that is rare for any writer to attain let alone maintain throughout a poem they might write about rain. But you maintain and attin that beautiful darkness within this piece with the mentioning of colors such as purple and green on a rainy day. Colors with rain = beautiful poetry = this poem!

I love rain too. Nice flow.

if it wasn't for silly things like floods and whatnot, I would completely agree with you. It rains forever for me because I have a cd of thunder and rain that I listen to frequently.
I do enjoy this piece very much. It shows me that there are more of those of us who adore storms than I had thought. Thank you for your great entry! -

it's good, it really is. but all your poems are sounding the same... it sounds manufactured

I just noticed that when I was writing this.... it sounds so... monotonous.
I think I'm going to try something different.
