My Eyes

When the pounding fades...
And carelessly you turn to walk away,
How I wish you knew,
The victim that I pity here is you,

How I wish to turn your face again, and lend you my eyes...

So you might see the gaping wound ripped wide
By the dagger flung so mindlessly
From your foolish lips...
Look close and you will see the bleeding heart,
Left trembling, gasping, dying in my arms...

Oh reckless soul, if only I could lend to you my eyes...

So you could see your condemnations are misled,
If they shame the name of love
That you revere,
How could your haughty judgements be so right,
If they pierce the heart of one the Judge holds dear...

Nay, but come near, and I shall lend you my eyes...

I'll show you strength...the kind of strength a broken spirit knows,
The very ones you oft' have labled "weak",
Could pile your burdens high upon their own,
And carry you,
If you were wise enough to note their brawn...

Unyeilding heart, once more I wish I might lend you my eyes...

To see a beauty growing 'neath the skin,
A soul of goodness cannot be called "plain",
If the fount of virtue ripples deep inside,
And a heart that bleeds out love
Cannot be drained...

And so you see...
Your blindness is a senseless tragedy,
I pity those deceived by hateful lies,
And wish that I might lend them all my eyes.

the whole thing was awesome but what I put in quotes there is just the most powerful and on target thing I have read in a minute.
