Of Lies Enwalled

Oh, Father, many say some have no faith,
if their bodies were not healed;
a lie meant to have them question You, Lord,
fearing they have not been sealed.

Peter said, "They who suffer in the flesh
no longer live in sin's way
nor give any time to the lusts of men;
just serving God's will each day.

"Nay," Peter said, "Their pain is nothing strange;
for they share in Christ's suff'ring
and even are criticized in His name.
But, their reward He will bring.

"Spirit of glory and God rest on each;
thus, critics speak lies of them,
both of they who suffer and of our Lord:
yet, suff'ring glorifies Him.

"Yea, when our chief Shepard returns for them—
after suff'ring for some time,
to become perfect and holy as Christ—
their crowns of glory will shine."

So, take great care of whom you criticize
and call names as Christ was called;
for they might be the truth speakers you need
to break free of lies enwalled.

Author notes

Contest Prompt: Segment 1.6) Hope - See this light? All the darkness may press around me but this will never be extinguished as long as I hope.

So many times I was told I had no faith, because I was not healed of MS, Lupus, and a host of other diseases, as well as a deadly brain aneurysm. Ah, but, the Holy Spirit prompted me to research God's Word regarding healing of the flesh. This is not to say that someone cannot be healed in the flesh, certainly they can if it is God's Will; however, the Bible reveals that healing of the flesh is not a given for every ailing Christian: and there are seven reasons why healing is not granted.

As Jesus said to Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee." Some may not be healed for one reason and others, like Paul, are not healed for all seven reasons. As Paul said, so I say, I'd rather have these thorns in my side, than to lose the power of Jesus upon me.

Let no man tell you that YOU lack faith just because you might not have been healed in the flesh. It is a lie straight out of the pits of hell.

A contest entry

Man's lies have turned many from Christ, yet His Word has shown that healing of the flesh is not a given: healing of the spirit, always!

  • Thank you

    A very powerful religious entry thank you. Oh on one of my friend's pages there is this:

    “I asked God for strength that I might achieve. I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey. I asked for health that I might do greater things. I was given infirmity that I might do better things. I asked for riches that I might be happy. I was given poverty that I might be wise. I asked for power that I might have the praise of men. I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. I was given life that I might enjoy all things. I got nothing that I asked for, but everything I hoped for. Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered. I am, among all men, most richly blessed.”

    Seems to suit what you were saying in your AN.

    very nice entry of hope and faith, oh and I am not adding finalists until after competition's close, just so you knew and didn't feel discouraged.

      I completely identify with your friend's page statement! As Paul, so I have thorns in my side, but all for good; so, truly, I am richly blessed with the power of Christ. Thank you so much for accepting the poem into your contest, which I know will be difficult to judge. After all, there are so many talented poets here.

      Luv & hugs, BonnieQ

      Hey darling! As always, thank you for the encouragement. There is a complete study on healing over at my blog, which reveals that we are NOT guaranteed healing of the flesh just because we believe. I will look it up and send the link to you. I feel it will better answer the question recently put to you.

      Much luv & hugs, SisBon

    You know that you have your own ministry right here at AP! Your wonderful, thought provoking writes always teach and encourage with truth. No sugar coating, just plain old truth raw and uncut! I learn something new every time I read from your fine talented and faithful pen mom! This is no exception. Besides, the flesh is but a temporary vessel that will not pass on to eternity, so it should not come with guarantees.

    Love you,

    Frogz~

      Thank you, darling daughter! You made a very wise observation: "Besides, the flesh is but a temporary vessel that will not pass on to eternity, so it should not come with guarantees." AMEN! Such an astute understanding. Thank you!

      Much love & hugs, MomB

  • I agree

    I have been sick from the Gulf war for 18 years. I used to pray for God to take it away. He chose not to. He wanted me to be dependent on him and not rely on myself so much. I also remember that Paul prayed three times for God to remove some malady and God replied that his grace was sufficient. I certainly would not say Paul was a man who could be called a man of no faith. Great write and very true. God bless you and keep you, Mark

      Thank you so much, Mark, for sharing your thorns with me. We are not alone with these thorns in our sides; but, we are outnumbered ten to one. Oh, well, we have the Power!

      What I found during the research, years ago, that was particularly interesting, had to do with the "gift of healing." So many times I've been told by others that, in accordance with the gift's directions, they had gone to the elders to be anointed and prayed over for healing. Alas, they were not healed, so the elders told the patient it was because he or she lacked faith; yet, the gift's instructions indicate that a failure to heal is a lack of faith in the healer, not the sick.

      In my case, I found identity with Paul; for Paul was given the thorns for all seven reasons, and so was I. For most people, it would be for one, maybe two reasons. Paul was blessed with gifts that even exceeded that of the Apostles, as I was gifted unusual for a woman; so, as Paul said, one of the reasons for the thorns were to keep him humble. I so understand that reason, which is one of the most critical of the seven. Another is to identify God's messengers of these days when Satan's houses are performing healing miracles by the hundreds per day.

      Much love & hugs, BonnieQ

    Good

    Yes, Sister Bonnie Q . speaks the truth. The clarity of F THE BRIGHT SHINY SUN is SOMETIMES HINDERED By THE MORNING MIST. Still, it is clear we are called to suffer as Jesus did. I speak for the blind and cripple, for I am. I do not expect to suffer all the time. I do expect to be healed; never the less I will still believe unhealed or heald at our Lord's will.
