Lay It Down I Will
©copyright 2004 Bonita M Quesinberry
Sometimes it astounds me,
though it should come as no surprise,
that many will hear or read my words,
then quickly move on:
some leave no comments,
others jotting down black sentiments.
Oh, Lord, they don't comprehend
the many years you've taught me,
preparing me to speak your Truth:
a last chance for them all.
Instead, they lie and defy:
not a one kneeling to cry.
No, it should come as no surprise,
for you warned of such things;
that people would wax worse
with children behaving lawless:
all desiring smooth words,
accepting your law as lies blurred.
Yea, it should come as no surprise,
for you warned even more:
I would be falsely accused,
my brothers and sisters, too.
Yet, I understand today,
there is no more I can say.
Still, as long as I am here,
I will speak and write your Truth;
knowing all too well
that soon even my life they might seek.
Yet, lay it down I will,
gripped in my hand your golden quill.

Wow, there in my hand, that line just touched me so deeply, because, who knows where our journeying will take us...but, the all important thing is as you so eloquently state is to keep doing what God calls for each of us to do-do it until the end, this really is an inspiring write, and most assuredly deserves the Gold-my congratulations and my hat's off to you, Dear Sis, continue to fight the good fight(lots of love)

yes okay
it is hard sometimes to hear and understand God's word. as I see it and tell others who don't want to or just don't see itI am upset as you are. Lord, I pray you open the ears and eyes of the ones you put before us

This write reminds me of "Hesiod" in Days and Works
Your dedication to the Truth is evident
Well done

So true dear mother of wisdom...so true, he prepares us, equips us, we are the ones that move on to do His will, but there are those moments as you have shared here, expressed on your heart, and all we can do is lay it down again at His feet, again another blessed write. Blessings.
