Your charming personality)
With just bare thoughts you outlined me
Need no pencil or charcoal
Neither brush nor paint
On white canvas -- Slowly you painted me
Broken edges round the tip
We’ll just let it slip
Youthful and abundant past
Fills in every corner but not
To stay as novel as before
With time things do fade
But just like a painting
Rich colours turning sepia
Adding a flavour of nostalgia
We could be like that
In time
Romance faded but feelings kept true
Love tested – delicate time stripped off immaturity
Leaving behind – what’s left
That of a grown-up love
Groundwork for a life-long us
Maybe one day
On the rocking chairs we’d be
Sipping chocolate
With thick reading glasses, looks returned
In our simple cottage of some decades
Threading scattered memories
From a challenged recollection we’d both laugh and say:
“My, how young and silly we were
Back at age eighteen!”
I could continue dreaming
Until you come around
Look deep into me
Consider us
Believe in completing our masterpiece
Stretch your hands out and
Claim me
