Splish, splash, dash across the waves.
A splash in the water, a tossed rock makes
A ripple forms and skids across the waves
Not knowing quite which route to take
The ebbing and flowing of the water it braves.
It takes little time to reach nowhere
The sun sets on the watery horizon
A serene scene to appear anywhere
But the elegance of the moment, the ripple knows none.
Blissfully unaware of how perfectly it fits
On top of the water’s surface it sits
Not able to see the giant waves behind
That are ready to disrupt this perfectly good tide.
Of course all good things must come to an end
But when one ripple’s over another transcends.
Splish splash dash across the waves

This is a very nice and talented write. How can you write so much about a single rock skipping on the water? It flows almost like a song, singing the rocks journey...

Beautifully written. This had a very nice flow as well. It also had some very nice imagery. I can picture a little kid down at a lake shore skipping rocks as I read this. A wonderful write.

Nice thoughts and of course the ocean, waves, ripples etc. are a great metaphor for many themes. I'm not fussed on using cliches as in your second last line "all good things must come to an end" and encourage you to strive for originality (let others turn YOUR words into cliches!)
You have great potential, keep writing...alby
