Welcome to the world
I know it's not what you expected
But this is all you'll get
So make the best of it
Looking through the window of my mind
I see the swirling masses waiting for their train ride
A ticket and a taco in my hand
I give a man 2 quarters and a smile
And I say
Welcome to the world
I know it's not what you expected
But this is what you get
So make the best of it
Looking at newspapers on the stand
Realizing chaos is the order of the land
Sometimes it brings me down to think of it
But I have my pen and paper to help me understand
And I write
Welcome to the world
I know it's not what you expected
But this is all we'll get
Let's make the best of it
There was a girl I used to love
But I broke her heart and she proceeded to break mine
And all I saw were clouds above
Forgetting who I was and what I'm made of
But I strum my guitar and sing my song and that's enough
Yeah, that's enough for me
Welcome to the world
(I strum )
I know it's not what you expected
(Through the storm)
Yeah this is all of it
(And I'll be fine)
We make the best of it
(yeah, I'll be fine)
I know it's not what you expected
But this is all you'll get
So make the best of it
Looking through the window of my mind
I see the swirling masses waiting for their train ride
A ticket and a taco in my hand
I give a man 2 quarters and a smile
And I say
Welcome to the world
I know it's not what you expected
But this is what you get
So make the best of it
Looking at newspapers on the stand
Realizing chaos is the order of the land
Sometimes it brings me down to think of it
But I have my pen and paper to help me understand
And I write
Welcome to the world
I know it's not what you expected
But this is all we'll get
Let's make the best of it
There was a girl I used to love
But I broke her heart and she proceeded to break mine
And all I saw were clouds above
Forgetting who I was and what I'm made of

Such a pool of humanity...
observed as only a true poet sees love and life......
It is the poets and musicians who do the greatest healing.
Enjoyed this...
Peace my friend,

When I was 16, I played at Carngie Hall in NY and went on tour with my orchestra. Since it was a tour, my time in the big city spent on a tour bus, then rushing off for a few hours to glace at central park, or the united nations *yawn* and then it was back on the tour bus, so I can't say I've seen or been to Penn Station, but your visuals were wonderful. My daddy lives in NY
And I can't wait until I get to go back. This would make a great song, like a ballad type deal. Thanks for taking the time to enter my contest, and I apologize for me delay in judging! Best of luck!

Lyrical, purposeful, a melody for living life, you portray the blues but shine a light with insight, kindof a pick yourself up, dust yourself down, life is for living so for go the frown. An effective hook line, akin to a melodic mantra.

thank you! you even leave poetic comments! no wonder you're on my favorites

I like the feel of this a lot. A station offers incredible imagery and metaphor for so many reasons, and you captured those here. Best of luck in the contest.
