I sank deeper into my ten blankets
Pushing around my nine pillows
No school, please no
I don't really want to not go
But I'm tired from this weekend
Didn't do a smidgen of work
Only flew from place to place
Not really knowing
Where I'd be or when
But my friend leaves tomorrow
We got together to say goodbye
Hugs galore and a few tears
He's going into that thing
That thing they cal the army
He's supposed to come back
Army strong
What is that?
How is it defined?
I can think of so many
Who have never been
In that thing they define as war
But they have scars, nightmares, memories
Who are the soldiers?
Who strong enough to be an army
An army of their own
We'll be the army at his back
No matter how he's changed
When he comes back
When he's that thing they call
Army strong
I'm going to crawl into bed
Next to my friend, my sister
We both will miss him
And hope he won't go insane
Without a phone
Hell, if he can make it without
Now that is army strong
Still, the war here
The war there
The battles fought
I wonder who defines the army
The soldiers, the strength of
Who really tells you what it is
Army strong
We'll see you then
When you come back
Army strong

that was really good. I liked this a lot. War seems to change everyone.. even those that aren't involved directly. You've done an excellent job.. and I noticed that you said "sister" inside of this poem so I am gathering you'd want to be my sister. Welcome to the family and thanks for entering the contest. Kahy
