Sweet Seclusion

To lie in sweet seclusion while the breezes kiss your skin
and know that here you’ve found the perfect place
to wile away the hours, relaxation can begin
the happiest of smiles upon your face.

The azure sky reflected in the gentle rolling sea
broken only by the whitest, fluffy clouds,
to lie and watch a seagull as it flies so high and free
not shackled to this land by earthly shrouds.

The warming air is scented by a myriad of blooms
jewelled hummingbirds sip nectar from the flowers,
the many birds of paradise add colour with their plumes
they sit and preen among the shady bowers.

To watch the perfect sunrise as it tips the schooner’s mast
what better way to start another day,
walk barefoot on the golden sand and know this peace will last
the pace of life slows down around the bay.

The one you love beside you who can share in all the fun
to hold you close and dance throughout the night,
or in quiet contemplation at the setting of the sun
the moon peeps out with rays of silvered light.

To find your earthly paradise if only in your mind
you'd be replete on poetry, on which you have just dined.

  • great piece

Wow I found this be very well written, interesting and a unique way of talking about a subject often written about. It really had a tranquil and relaxing feel that made feel I was actually there. Glad I found this just browsing titles because it was well worth the time. Image and visions

Ahhhh... what a wonderful feast. Such a perfect response to the prompt, and I love how you tied it all up by the focus on the poetry and the mind as the "schooner" -- another fine write. Lita
