She’s a sunset
loves night more than day
night feels more than sees
when heavy draped voices speak
moon is the jewel about her neck
he is high sky of noon
about to siesta
they are not the same,
his love is spent upon dawn, rests in heat
dwindles to dusk;
she’s the night blooming flower
so terribly out of season
shadowed beauty, sprouting pungent leaves,
aromatic wisdom.

Loved this. Couples can survive being different; they can't survive being distant. The challenge is to celebrate the strengths and gifts we each have, and take a objective look at the partner's talents. We grow familiar and bored to easily. Willingness to understand, comfort, ask and give emotional support. Congrats on Gold.

Congratulations! I missed this one, and what a read it was! Excellent, and more than deserved, plunge is the right word. Sigh...

To plunge into this...
This is a magical write, that surfaces to then plunge into a beautiful place. The entire poem is a menagerie in imagery and that first stanza, whew just drew me in and wouldn't let me go. These are words that can live on...forever.
Gorgeous write.
Thank you for entering. -
Interesting well written poem. I'm an image person (lol, as you know) and so this poem appeals to me in particular. Solid write.

A lovely poem about how we enjoy life in different ways.
Your poem reminds me the movie Lady Hawk...love still so alive even though the night was for one what the day was for another.
Beautiful poem Howard

This is lovely....loved the contrasts here...yes, that is indeed how it sometimes is with relationships - moons apart. But for a little while the morning star and the moon are together in the sky...so many beautiful phrases and images in this poem.
