The Buddha's Shadow 4

Missing image

No Buddha – no shadow … no master – no slave

No angel – no devil … no heaven – no hell

Let soft gaze of Presence dissolve Maya’s spell

When ego subsides : no more sinner to save

To wheel of rebirth with mind’s chain no more bound

Within-ness discovered, the heart’s silent sound

Rejoice, for the Kingdom of Heaven you’ve found

Author notes

The "kingdom of Heaven" is a condition of the heart -
not something that comes "upon the earth" or "after death."
- Friedrich Nietzsche -

inspired by the painting "l'ombre du bouddha"

Thine inner bliss seeps to me. Outstanding and beautiful. Loved the read.

  • Beautiful

No one composes spiritual poetry quite like you, maa. Full of truth and beauty and a pure joy to read and ponder.

Your sutra weaves effortlessly through my soul... ancient as the scrolls under saffron care and as fresh as sweet berries on the vine.

I have missed your Presence wafting the dust from the gray matter between the ears... Your eyes have not changed, yet only to see clearer... to You and Your Beloved, I shower adoration and can only offer the petals of forgotten songs in the wind...

      my precious Presence,

now I know why I have been thinking of you for the last two days ... especially the scenery of your poem "the walk" http://allpoetry.com/poem/1195908
repeatedly appeared on my mind's screen ... it had touched me beyond mesure the moment I had first read it ... and the words :

"As he steps from the woods onto the path,
children throw small rocks at him,
for their minds are busy, and they do not know.
He smiles and greets each new stone,
      as a long lost friend.
      - Presence -"

still haunt my spirit ... they have become my mantra towards a place in me where praise and blame are welcome as equals ... when shadows become longer and I almost believe in their substance, your words are the sweet balm that soothes ancient wounds that resist healing ...

I just wanted you to know how precious your Presence is in my life ...
thank you for having been the gentle breeze that has caressed my soul this morning ...

much heartfelt love to You and Your precious Anandi Devi ...

I see the reflections of "Buddha" are still with you in mind, body and spirit.

thank you again for the friendly reminder that helps me shed light on the fixations still present in this body-mind-organism ... I am grateful for your precious feedback ...

your words have infused my spirit and guided me to a little story about hui-neng who responded to the words :

our body is the bodhi tree
and our mind a mirror bright
carefully we wipe them hour by hour
      and let no dust alight

      with this wonderful verse :

      there is no bodhi tree
nor stand of a mirror bright
      since all is void,
where can the dust alight ?

thank you so much for your presence, dear zayra,
      heartfelt blessings,
      maa

      shift of perspective

      emptiness
infinite space that no eye can see
content-less vastness that no hand can grasp
soundless sound that no ear can hear
      owner-less dwelling-place
      of the silent mind
      buddha-less nature
      of our innermost
      self

The Buddha would smile on you. The search for eternal peace and tranquility and cessation of desire and the bliss of perfection, all wrapped up neatly in the package. Drawing inside and finding it all. Excellent.

The kingdom of heaven is within you. Your words ring true without pretense or fault. Neither passe are trite but full of the Light. The create a sense of peace in the use of ryhme and the rhythmn of your words. Well done.

The Kingdom of Heaven is where God is, and where is God not? If he is believed to be outside, then one is without.
I love the rhythm and rhyme you have created, and the great good sense.

  • Yes. Kingdom of heaven is within, not outside, and always existing.
