She takes
Her heart
And slits
Every word
That they ever promised.
Tonight,
She will bleed
All the lies
That have stained
Her life for
Too long.
--------------------------------
There are excuses b o u n c i n g off her lips
And she is (fo)r(mi)n(g strange words that feel a lot
like acid t/\e/\a/\r/\i/\n/\g her throat.
Their concern is reeking P

of rancid bile in her ears.
And the stitches holding her lashes together are faulty;
But the scars on her irises are worse.
Her arm is draped in shrouds of material,
Covering the release that .:seeps:. from her fingers each day.
And even when the rain [stops], she remains clothed.
Her chest is being wrapped with duct tape,
C[o[n[s[t[r[i[c[t[i[n[g the phrases she wishes to write.
And her skin is being t .o . r . n when nightfall covers the sun.
The keyboard |s_t_r_o_k_e_s| are documenting times of uncertainty,
And times of dreams that
crash.
Yet each day, her eyelids still -awaken-.
They stare and .mutter. under muted disapproval.
She , hiding under fringes and lyrics.
Writing words that will never amount to sentences.
When the world decides to \c o m b u s t/ and smoke,
She will hold her bloodied notebooks to her chest
And whisper softly:
I told you so
--------------------------------
And tonight,
She will bleed
All the lies
That have stained
Her life for far
Too long.
Author notes
Prompt: The stitches are faulty, but the scar is worse.

Wow
I think this piece is fantastic. I think it's so good that it didn't really need the dirty/pretty stuff. Though that is always the authors choice. I don't think it made it any greater tho.
Great piece of writing, great imagery
Congrats on a piece of gold.
Thank you for entering

This is so RAW. Love it sweetie, you always write with such care and expression, I know all these feelings and felt like this yesterday myself. The last 4 lines particularly hit home they were so raw and so true. Love you and what you always promise to be a beautiful piece.

I really like it, but I feel like it might be more powerful without the excess brackets. Thanks for entering. xx
