Shadows on the Wall

Missing image
..Night hangs its shadows on my wall
each evening when the day is done
Laboriously I watch them crawl
towards another rising sun
When I must face another day
Alone, since my love passed away,

Yet those I find, are not unkind
for I can occupy my mind
With other things that I pursue
until, another night is due

These are the times I really dread
when I must face what lays ahead
Denied of sleep. I oft times weep
for memories, that her pillows keep

It’s then, that I can raise a smile
and pain is banished for a while
Too often, much  to my dismay
the image of her, fades away

I try my hardest to recall
I’m  left, with shadows on the wall

This is stunning. I sat with my guitar strumming and putting tune to the words (doubt I did them justice.) Sorry for your loss, your mindset and outlook on life is inspirational.

Thank you Topnotchsy for your wonderful comments I would love to hear the tune you came up with.
As for my mindset, my dear wife would kill me if she knew i behaved in any other way.
My daughters and i sat by her bed till the last moment 5 minutes later we were in fits of laughter about something she said just before passing.
That was the way we dealt with her cancer for 12 years every time it returned we Laughed in its face
Maybe thats why it got angry in the end
Bet it was sick when it heard us laughing minutes later
We talk and laugh about a wonderful wife and mother all the time
      This keeps her alive
      Geez now I'm rambling Sorry

Wish I could share it but it was just a tune I made up on the spot and I don't remember how it went.

You may call it "rambling" but to me it's an inspiration on how to live life and deal with the hard times. Thanks for sharing.

Funny how when you miss something so much they manifest themselves as just 'shadows on the wall'-I do not think they ever go away-Bless this poem and you-

thank you Hilly I think it is because one is always used to seeing them there When they have gone you are looking for them Perhaps they are, one only catches them in movement, caught out of the corner of one eyes

Thank you Dear Sue the loss is deeply felt but it is not in my nature to dwell on such things Which is why i rarely write such works Life is precious to me and i will not spend it grieving over what was a wonderful person and passage of my life
