Too many blemishes to show my true face
So many insecurities, what would they think?
So many social rules to comply with...
I am not enough
So I draw on flourishes
And create the perfect guy
So I may fit in.
My cover isn’t enough
To success your initiations
Into a society gone wrong,
My decorations not grand enough,
So I add more
And more
And more
Until my mask is too heavy
And I break free…
Hidden behind lies too long,
My face has changed.
Morphed into a mimic of my false image.
And now I cannot go back.
