I waited

Missing image
When I was little I rocked my dolls
and dreamed about the day
that I would be a mommy
it didn’t seem so far away

When I grew up I waited
for Mr Right to come along
The man I’d have my children with
The one who’d sing my song

I met him in the spring time
as the birds began to sing
and we tried to make our family
even before I wore his ring

We danced the way that couples do
with babies in their hearts
As time flew past we cycled by
our calendars and charts.

I dreamed about our children
obsessive in my need
Until they day they told us that
your body held no seed.

Author notes

In the infertility world we call having sex doing the "baby dance"

Lack of sperm is pretty rare and the brainless Dr we had first actually asked my (now)husband if he was sure he hadn't have a vasectomy. That should have been a hint that we should have run to another Dr.

Once a man is dx with azoospermia (zero sperm) you have to either give up on having childer or on your dreams of having them "the old fashioned way." Trust me either way you have lost what you really wanted.

Title suggestions are welcome.

"Ti's the oldest story in the book...He desires the one thing he cannot have."

  • Truly Amazing

Your words flowed so brilliantly in this piece, I could really feel your remorse about the entire situation. Being only 18 i can't really imagine what it would be like for this to happen, really wanting kids and not being able to, and I hope I never do have to go through it. Your words brought tears to my eyes. Truly an amazing piece of work, I really enjoyed reading it. Keep up the amazing writes, and best of luck to you in the contest!
