she is quiet
purring softer than years gone
not wanting to awaken time
when twilight meets the dawn
there it is -
that special moment, when two beings meet
for the very first time
licks her paw, the one that always hurt in the past
aches still from nevernever agains, and ninelives quicker
in her basket there are broken toys,
mirrors and other trinkets
from other magpies
but this time
she waits in the window
listens
ears pricked
for the familiar caw caw on the wind
she: turns the page of the glossy magazine
looks at the longlegged stick thins
smiles and thinks
she's his kitten
purrs
