Hope springs strong
with a happy bubbling song
see the waves as they flow
swiftly darting to and fro
hear them sing, sing, sing
feel the happiness they bring
for the welling of the stream
is the swelling of your dream
Doubt seeps in
polluting all that floats within
see the waves as they sicken
in the water weak and stricken
it goes slow, slow, slow
as the water line grows low
feel the hopes you held so dear
flood with fiercely flowing fear
Quiet now descends
sense the malice it portends
where was water swift and hail
now a muddy broken trail
it lies dead, dead, dead
and the dream from which it fed
is but bloated black debris
rank and rotting endlessly
