Beneath The Moon

Beneath The Moon

I want to be your lover
Oh babe I'd give my liver
Or Saturn's rings of silver
If you will just be mine
Beneath the moon of orange
You've got me on a love binge
I think I'm gonna unhinge
You're looking really fine.
I'm waiting in a vacuum
I'm hoping I don't meet doom
Here in an airless space tomb
Cold shivers run my spine
Now let's show the galaxy
That we're so hot and flexy
Come on now; you're so sexy
For you I only pine

Wow, I love these lines, it's so . . . perfect in a weird sort of way. I love this, I am going to bookmark this. Great write, I really enjoyed reading this.

  • This is

funny, but not really stupid! Humorous take on the Contest & very well done. I don't know why but I couldn't write a stupid rhyme! I'm a rhymer big time & when I saw this Contest it inspired two writes that I entered even though they weren't what they were supposed to be! I did it to let Mel know what her Contests bring out of me. Go figure...the antithesis of stupid is what I got. I'll take it, but for sure I'll not win this Contest. You've got a piece that's a real contender & it made me smile!

    • I dunno.

I took the most overused topic I could think of.
I looked up words that had no true perfect rhyme.
I used the word 'liver' in a love poem; ewwww.
I used a simple rhyme scheme.
I made it cheesy science fiction.
I can't think of anywhere dumber to go.

      • Nah...

your rhyme was finer than most & I give a toast Hey...if a lover needs a liver you give it to them! I love the way every fourth line rhymes. Many like humorous space fantasy poem. I think this is funny & charming in it's own way & done skillfully! All the best....

        • Kinda reminds me of Dr.Suess

If a lover needs a liver
          And her lover does discover
That the liver he can give her
Is the liver for the lover
Not the liver of her brother
Who has blood type quite another
Then the giver of the liver
Gives the liver that's the siever
To his lover and no other
And she'll live because he give her
Half his liver, not her brother
'Cause his blood type was another

    Write on!

    • Thanks Julie.

You just reminded me of a web page I need to rebuild if I can find the bits. I had a series of poems called The Battle Clone Cycle which I lost when AOL nuked everything I had on Netscape. I'll see if I can find a bit to show why you reminded me of it.

      The Eve of Destruction

You've heard of the Neverland, never returning
The fighting, the death, the destruction, the burning
You live in these bad years, with each day a dread
With never a moment of peace in your head

Grown up so fast in the name of the cause
With not enough playdays, and no Santa Claus
No purpose but fighting those fierce battle clones
No places to go to that aren't battle zones

It seems Merrie England was not merry quite
All bitter and angry, just spoiling to fight
For wrecking the empire where sun never set
She has set out to give the whole world regret

In her tunnels so deep 'neath the coal mines of old
She began secretly her experiment bold
Taking genes from all over she built D.N.A.
To make battle clones that we're fighting today

They say there are genes from the black killer bees
And some stuff from the rats for resisting disease
And the chimpanzee blood gives a ferocious grip
And the only part British, that stiff upper lip

They breed in the tunnels where bombs never reach
Implanted at birth they've computers to teach
With each British dam to her duty impressed
The clones could forever march fifty abreast

Through tunnels and chunnels they pour night and day
How long they've been digging them no one can say
There's rumours I've heard that the miners broke through
In the days of King Arthur, when dragons still flew

I hear they had tunnels to Germany years
Before the first world war brought us to tears
But they wouldn't open them, they were afraid
To show us their hand 'til the last piece was laid

The solve of the puzzle, the ring of the bell
The method to send us all tumbling to Hell
The gene engineering that makes them so wild
The chips that they implant in every man child

Each woman they capture live spends her whole life
In their caverns below as technologie's wife
Insuring their supply of clones won't run out
Beneath every land mass they have a redoubt

But hey little surfer dude don't be all down
You still can play games when clones aren't around
They can't tunnel upwards and reach to the sky
Where eagles and space station factories still fly

Our comm units, laser knives, tech from above
Flow down on us daily, from Skywatch comes love
One day we'll win out with our helpers from space
We'll make our whole world a good surfer dude place

So like tune in some Dylan on your old comm set
Groove out on some Tetris, and try to forget
I hear it's not long 'til the boring bombs fly
To pierce all the nests, make the host mothers die

One day when the battle clones all have been killed
It's the job of you Beforeit born ones to build
A new world just like the one we once knew
Where flags meaning peace, love, and liberty flew

So take this flag now little dude and rejoice
That you are still free and that you have the choice
This mark 14 knife, and this medical droid
Made in the station by some 'puter noid

Watch son and wait, keep the spirit alive
Protect the womenfolk, help them survive
The time for the final big battle draws near
So kiss me goodbye son, and never show fear

My carrier leaves in an hour from now
We'll destroy their bunkers son, stop them somehow
Once more little surfer dude, shake, like a man
Goodbye son, we're mounting, I'll call if I can
      ***************************************************************

There are about ten more in the series and I'll have to read several hundred probably to get them in. Cheers.
