I know of a city that’s as old as time itself
A city of lies, secrets and lost hope
That fobidden city is the place I used to call home
I ran down the narrow halls with servants by my side
I saw the Empress and Emperor addressing their people from time to time
I danced for the Emperor my body telling him a story
I took part in a forbidden love with a scholars son who everyone deemed unworthy
I weaved my own secrets in time, leaving things in history people would never find
Those secrets I left for no one to discover
Those secrets are now buried inside my daughters blood and mind
Now I look back on that city and see
A place where nothing is what it seemed to be
A city of secrets, a city of lies
A city that confined me until I died

VERY mysterious. I liked it a lot. It made me think and visualize each line.
As for the background, kuddos for my favorite color! :-)
Thanks for entering and good luck!
