A Question Thrown Up To The Ceiling At Midnight

I wonder -
if I hold your hands
will I know the story of you,
or will I simply surrender to the touch
and write my own?

I'm a sap for "wondering", so you have me on this one... even if it's you wondering...

I love when a poem's title is almost as long as the writing itself. Though short, this poem is very strong, and I think my head is spinning. Events of late have me understanding this all too well! I wish I knew the answer.

  • laughing..this is the truth you shared but the stories are the same if you are refering to the heart..maybe I am wrong..but you decide now..

What a question you ask here, Lane!! I have a "hands story" to write myself too - so thank you for this beautiful one.

The story one writes is always better than the one
    our life tells...no?

We are not the sum of perceived past events, we are defined by our actions. Memories fade and the future is not part of the past, but begins in this moment and lives in all the moments to follow. You write your own everyday.

    Excellent. Well deserved silver.

I'm not even sure what to write. Your ability to make magic with words has rendered me speechless.

  • Lovely writing, with your brand of delicate sensuality, as always.

    fabulous-good to see you back

    Surrendering to soft caresses
    As one’s emotions undresses
    Learning story of another’s heart
    Where love truly starts
    Laney-you are a treasure
~ Of pure poetic pleasure ~

There's something completely erotic about someone's hands in my opinion. I think in our minds we always write our own stories, don't we?

You will do both, of course, but the touch triggers the question, the poetry.

Somehow I know that even if you surrender to the touch you will never stop writing your own story.
