and the magpie caws
he offers trinkets of silver stars and something
from a new sky
she: purrs in a shadow of submission
his voice travels down wires and across plasma
her head turns
to the window she pains
but it's gone
the scratch, the scrape
again, she sighs
- hears him; closer
wings beating
wings apart
and then; a knock at the door

I love the anticipation that is suggested in this one..
the quiet inside the window and waiting..
the pawing at the window
you know i love that, told you already
such a good image
great personification to how we really do things, you know?

this is so good gill
i almost thing wings beating
wings apart might be a more effective ending.. but
either way
wonderful poetry
love the title and follow-up line

there is a very "open door" for thoughts of our own in the interpretation of this. I like that most about this poem. the visions of the wings as they come and go - beating (as she might feel a beating within as well) is simply wonderful too. I think that's my favorite vivid image in all of this - it captures ones attention and brings my thought to that image as clear as can be.
so much to love about this kind of poetry.

...Jane has a new bunny rabbit: white with blue eyes. I suggested she call it "Sinatra". She won't hear of it!

-
-
she could call it nancy if it was a girl

She says they arn't sure if it's a "Nancy" or a "Frank".
