The Waiting Game

We believe that God has a purpose in mind,
a thing we must do, a path we must find.
We struggle and search, we listen for clues.
We battle distractions that only confuse.

We pray for discernment, a crystal clear sign.
We’re willing to follow God’s sovereign design.
He’s given us talents, insights, and skills.
We seek to do things that our calling fulfills.
But, maybe His blessings are holding for when,
we “choose” what we want and not until then.

If our kids would ask us what they should pursue,
we’d pledge our support to whatever they do.
Yet, we wonder why God has yet to provide,
when maybe He’s waiting for us to decide.

Why would God, who sits high on the throne,
why would he wait for me to decide my fate alone?
Should I have in mind the things I wish to pursue,
he supports my decision but later it's that which I rue?
