Hot, steamy, and crispy,
In the gravel at the edge of the road,
Lies the dried leather carcass of a toad;
Hot, sleepy, and sweaty,
As I hung my head and drifted away,
Unto the dreams of a glorious day;
Cold, heavy, and deadly,
The brakes they squealed but the school bus hit me,
And all that I really was came to me;
...............Like the toad in the road.

This was... rather different
Comparing yourself to a toad on the road seems like a new idea to me
Best of luck and thanks for entering my contest

Thank very much for entering in my contest

Hmmm...
It is difficult to place yourself at the level of a toad even though you are improbably alive after being squashed. Still, road-accidental death is just that: a toad on a road. Difficult realism.

Wow, this was filled with imagery. Kind of abstract as well. This poem made me laugh out loud, and I enjoyed this. If this just came off the top of your head, you're weird, but weird is good
. Great job on this and good luck in the contest.

Nice top pic. It made me giggle a little to myself. I like this piece. It was simple, yet I could follow the story and I actually could envision it. Excellent write and good luck in my contest.

Heh, I hope this wasn't fiction based on fact! Hopefully the performance of your investments hasn't pushed you into diving in front of speeding school buses. I really recommend a good cup of hot chocolate with a lot of marshmallows!

Nope, just a recollection of my feelings about school back when I was in Jr. High
; a rather awkward time for me I'm afraid.
