Mr. Plitt

I sit here dazed in the interviews hold
Of all the memories Mr. Plitt has told

So I will tell the stories in Rhyme
Of good old Mr. Plitt
Back in the time…

Now let me say
Mr. .Plitt is a man
With a honest opinion
And a stick in his hand

It runs in the family
With many good sources
That his family has served
In the U.S. Armed Forces

But now it is his turn
To show what he’s got
So he joined the Navy
Make sure he won’t get shot

He’s only eighteen
Just out of school
That he was summoned
By the government’s rule

They expected him to leave
Everything that he owned
Leave the love of his life
And even his home

Across the mighty seas he sailed
Adventure around every bend
Run around the deck in hail
Is how he made his friends

After the war he came back strong
The welcome was slapped face
The hippies thoughts were very wrong
Urge to chase them out of the place

Now here he is a teaching man
With a grading book and
A “pointing stick” in his hand

And to the people with no mind
That wish to invade his house
Him with a gun is what you’ll find
Hold the feeling to douse
Your pants

“I pity the fool”
He said with a grin
The whole class would laugh
Our love he would win

And the story he’d tell
Were the best in the day
Like the one about Cookie
  And the rabid squirrel play

Now sitting at the fishing pond
And with a cold one in his palm
He looks back at his crazy times
And maybe even in my rhyme…
