Pain
cannot
be erased
with a single
waving of a hand.
Rotting, settling deep
within the core of the heart
until it bores holes to your soul,
pain imprisons your mind ruthlessly
leaving you defenseless against yourself.
~
Obscured in darkness, festering blindly,
reaching outward for signs of living
in a world filled with decayed rot;
soft whispers enter your head
and hands lay upon you.
As ache peels away
you recognize,
at long last,
there is
hope.

I love the delicate inner-line rhyme of "until it bores holes to your soul".
The last five lines are my favourite. Towards the middle of your poem I wasn't sure where it was going, the flow seemed a bit off, but the ending is brilliant. Your poem gets to where it's going. The impact is awesome.
Thanks for your entry!

-
you really did great on this the transition from pain to hope that was fasinating.
-
the poem was well constructed to be sure. It shows you have great skill. But this is more of a lost in darkness and finding hope kind of poem. I didn't really get the sense of balance playing through. I thank you for entering the contest though. I liked to poem.
