Beaten, whipped pierced, stabbed, he took my pain.
Since I sought the fleeting pleasure of sin, I am to blame.
I had refused to let him, the true king, reign.
Light of the world was overshadowed by darkness,
For I chose the dark rather than come to the light.
His cries were answered by silent starkness
As his loving dad left him alone to bare his plight.
Sin brought death to my very existence,
So he died that I may live life completely fulfilled
Knowing I would meet his offer of grace with resistance.
While I was his enemy, for me, he chose to be killed.
He rose to life to give me power and set me free
The Spirit who gave him life is now my guarantee

Easter is of heathen origin. It is an approximation of the Vernal Equinox. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox (the twenty-first of March), or as late as the twenty-fifth of April. The very name of the festival betrays its pagan source, for Easter is a variant of Eostre or Ostara, the name of the Anglo-Saxon goddess of Spring. The Festival of St. George takes place on April 23. It is a Christian replica of the ancient Parilia, or Birthday of Rome. St. George was originally the Egyptian god, Horus, who slew the Egyptian devil, Set, in the form of a dragon. The Festival of All Souls is a Christian copy of the ancient Egyptian Feast of the Lamps. Many gods besides Christ have been supposed to die, be resurrected and ascend to heaven. Christians unconsciously perpetuate the worship of Osiris and the commemoration of all his subjects in the Kingdom of the Dead.
He chose to be killed...!!! Sorry, but your poem did not reach this non-believer. Still, I wish you well in your contest, and in all things.~ crisstiena

I agree, Easter is a Pagan Holiday "Christianized" It is not a holiday commanded by God. The day we are commanded to remember is Passover, the day the Christ was crucified, the day the lamb was slain.
