My Hero Is My Friend

Too many nights of lonely living
finding plots that weren't fulfilling
doing actions that were low yielding

Rancid days of harrowed flights
who said days would follow nights?
why am I stripped of my rights?

Tension filled and overwhelming
why have I stopped all my singing?
why is my life bitter and stinging?

Tender the thoughts of the escape
hiding emotion-less under some cape
how does one land up in this shape?

Thoughts of intensity narrow the scope
why am I so simple? and why can't I cope?
then...along comes my hero, with a rope...

The 'love' in His eyes shone like the stars
for once, I don't have to be caught up in bars
He cleanses, and changes, stops all that mar-rs.

His 'angle' entranced me, only wanting my good
I found this to be exciting, as well that I should
He died for me, cried for me, did all that He could.

So now I'm not friendless, not lost in some pit
I'm free as the heavens, and loving each bit
because of 'this' friend and the hot fire He lit.

It's been too long since I've read your poetry.

Ah, these rhyming triplets are a testament to what God has truly blessed you with. I recently got a new computer after my last one crashed. It was a pain going a year without it, but I'm back on AP.

    Hot!

I enjoyed your voice - the passion of the heart - and then the sudden realisation that this was real, and no flickering passion at all.
You speak in your 'normal' voice in the last verse. Even though it may sound emotional and a little overblown, its NOT. Its a simple truth and I thank you for reminding me:
'So now I'm not friendless, not lost in some pit
I'm free as the heavens, and loving each bit
because of 'this' friend and the hot fire He lit.'

    Amen, Amen!

I love this, SisPatricia! I think anyone who reads this will be able to identify with every word; that is, of course, if they know our awesome best friend, Jesus Christ. What's even better is that He also is the best husband in the world to those, such as myself, who have not an husband! Yoohoo!

This should take the GOLD, hands down, no argument! GOLD!

    Luv ya! SisBon

    • Thanks Sis, I must write another one, in which I take way more time to ponder, He's done so much for me, it blows my mind

An excellent piece about Jesus being our friend, He can be all of our best friends. Loved the rhyme and flow from each stanza. When everyone else leaves He will stay with us.

    • That's His promise, Z, to never leave us or forsake us, and He's a person of His word, isn't He? smile and thanks for your review lots of love, hoping all is well with you on this day
