Front engine
Freight bus
Coming down the road
For me
To drive:
Noisy
Awkward
Cramped.
Is it so?
Ask the boss.
Heart almost stops
In dread.
No!
Leap for joy!
It will be
A quiet
Passenger bus
With a
Rear engine!
Thank God!

Author notes
This is what I call an "Almanzo Wilder Starlight Moment," from the book 'Farmer Boy,' by Laura Ingalls Wilder. When I first posted this poem, I wasn't quite so sure about company management as Almanzo Wilder was about his father; at this time of my slight revision, I have just driven the replacement bus for the first time, and am pleased!

Thanks! If it's half as good as the passage in 'Farmer Boy,' I'm happy!
