is the day when I close
my eyes forever.
-- anon
1.
We traced our initials
hardened in concrete sidewalk
giggled -- kissed -- walked away,
holding hands on a summer day
written with fourteen forevers.
2.
We rushed to get our clothes back
on before the kids got home.
Blushing and giggling, we fumbled
with buttons, teenagers
all over again.
3.
I know every wrinkle and all
the love folded into your skin.
You hold all my memories
as you unfold new promises
of love every day.
4.
We left a headstone
for those who followed,
so they would know
where we had been.
Our ashes sprinkled
through the roots of roses
so we could hold hands
share kisses with every blossom
waking with the taste of dew.

I wanted to have a few words, images that caught how love grows and changes. We forget that today starts and ends in the heart -- everyday.
Peace,

magnetic
I was magnetized in body, mind and spirit while experiencing this well sculptured work...amazing and wonderful. Thaks so much for taking me on this fabulous journey...NOTHING needs changing!
Joyous Blessings to you...

Thank you. I felt I was taking a risk in using the tidbits of an intimate life and the ending was a gift when I arrived there waiting for me as a reward. Glad you enjoyed the journey.

lovely
so lovely...i enjoyed the end very much...so we could hold hands
share kisses with every blossom
waking with the taste of dew.
such lovely words of love transcending death....may we all find a love that long lasting

I hold that it is possible. But then, I am a dyed in the wool romantic with no shame.
Glad you enjoyed.
Love,

This is very pretty. Its wonderful how you explained the fact that there is love after death, its a wonderful poem.

-

When we truly love, we are sharing from the spirit, who we are. This unexstinguishable. For this is what being alive is truly.

I never have much to say, but this made me smile. I love that the little details in life add up the the most memorable moments, which in the end are the most important. Even in the 'death' the beauty still grows and there is no sadness, just a peaceful anticipation.
-
-
Wanted to catch enough of those moments to show how we are the ones who create our forevers. I think you caught that

forever...carries on into Heaven's rise. such an endearing poem. L,

When we are the love we want, we become all that ever needs to be.
Heaven is everything that love is as we fly on the breath of God.

wow a deep and entrancing read of the milestones of love's first baby step of met kindred spirits to the hereafter held hand in hand heart to heart and with each step of the way the heart of love grows stronger with lasting promises towards eternity. thank you for entering anf many blessings always xxx

Thomas!
What a beautiful collection you have penned here! I simply love this so much. To love such was meant for us all ...
To write memoirs with kisses may truly be a forever experience.

I wanted to show love in a relationship beyond the maudlin and passe. We go through changes and how we share from them is what counts. Real love has us always growing and celebrating the joy and beauty of being alive.

Love, Tom B.

I love how you documented each step along the path of your love. You really made me smile with your words...
Love,
Stacy

Given the prompt, which I used as an epigraph, I felt I needed to deepen the sense of love to keep from being maudlin. Using a time line from first blush to final blossom seemed the best way. Glad you enjoyed. Thank you.
Peace & Light,
Tom B.

Mushed!!! One again you have opened your heart and poured it's contents onto the page. Once rooted, love will grow a large as one allows it to become... as long as you don't keep trying to transplant it or fail to nourish it's needs... Another lovely write from you!!!

I know it is a bitch when a guy goes mushy on ya.
The challenge was there, take a hallmark saying and make it meaningful. Hopfully, I succeeded. Going to an open mic tonight. May be one of the ones I read.

Yes, this is a kind of poetry I like to read and to write myself. Full of deep emotions and poetical love. Vignettes worth of readers attention.

Thank you. This is for me another look at relationships: how they work, how they express themselves. Also, it is a study in love and its reflection through years. Glad you enjoyed this, glad you stopped by.

All I can say about this poem is how beautiful it is. Through it's beauty it still has a vein of tragey, but as they say all good things mst come to an end. Part three was my favourite, and I can only hope that when I am older I will have something as treasured and magical as this relationship. Love this poem, keepup the excellent writing!!

I Get It...
it was okay for me.
My favorite stanza was probably:
We rushed to get our clothes back
on before the kids got home.
Blushing and giggling, we fumbled
with buttons, teenagers
all over again.
- some alright imagery within the poem makes it all the worth while reading...
Great JOB

We constantly create our humanity, laughter is the brightest light we perhaps can shine upon it or share with one another. Love, when too serious, becomes a curse.

Peace & Light,
Tom B.
-
-
A certain sadness permeates through this lovesong verse it speaks of love gone by and love to come in the river of eternity that flows through the universe

-
-
Joy without sadness is Light without shadow, thus there is no form. When we allow contrasts to occur we bring forth a dichotomy that creates beginning and end, shape and identification. Who knows perhaps for Good to exisit ...
Peace & Light,
Tom B.

this is lovely. the fourteen forevers that turned into a lifetime of knowing every wrinkle.how precious can love get? it makes me hope for a love that spans this time frame.

Love, real love, grows. Rooted in the spirit, it sets free the one loved and takes joy in how they grow; it supports the one loved when they are in times of learning so they feel safe to explore; Love cherishes and becomes a river of joy when the experiences of living are shared.

Love,
Tom B.

you hold all my memories
as you unfold new promises
of love every day.
i really like the way you put that. the first you, however, needs a capital y. thank you for sharing this with me today and i wish you the best of luck in this contest that you have entered. looking forward to reading more from you in the near future. viyanna rosemarie

"...written with fourteen forevers, you hold all my memories" .... No matter how you write it, your heart is tenderness. ~ K

-
-
Just my way of saying fourteen and we think we have forever. Plus layers of innuendoes. I echo the hands, the writing, the stone, the innocent heart throughout the poem. Real love lets us grow, invites us to spread our wings and fly in ways we never knew were possible. Real love gives us strength to grow and change when the ride gets bumpy. May the Light hold you in your journey and discoveries rare and delightful be your gifts.
love, Tom B.

This one got to me and I am emotional already so I may come back tomorrow but forst add this to my favorites of yours. Just know how much I love this, for when this chatterbox gets speechless, it is amazing...

What everyone should have
This is what I hope to have one day. I finally know it is possible for me and so I hope for the future. I am saddened by not having it know, but hopeful for the day when I will have it again.

-
-
to have love is to be Love. To be love, we become present to the joy we can share. You know so you will.
Love,
Tom B.

I enjoyed this immensely as it it what every true lover should hope for...
The hand of forever, the memories that somehow
retain their newness. Vignettes continues to be
a weak area for me. Thank-you for adding some
motivation. Blue

I like images that build on each other but may not always appear to belong together. For instance in this the concrete in the first and last vignettes. The use of hands and clasping in different ways. We are not continuous except to be linked by time. We are the pearls on a strand more than the strand itself. Separate unique events. I am going through so many changes now, I fear I make little sense.
Love,
Tom B.

Worth just a sigh to think of the 'forever' woven into the ending which is never just that is it?

this is so very lovely i think it is one of my favourite writes of the moment, i say of the moment as you are forever creating new beauty to touch our hearts, this is one of those writes that you read and it makes the emotions flood the heart, beautiful my friend. every wife should read it for there are many who think they are no longer beautiful in their mans eyes, they forget we should enjoy growing older together and stay forever young in each others heart, good luck in the contest

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. I strive to improve with every piece. I liked the challenge and used the prompt (feels like a hallmark card) as an epigraph. You are so right about age. True love should always grow and we are constantly richer, so trust the love.
Love, Tom B.

This is really beautiful. It touched my heart and makes me believe all over again in true love. Your words are very lovely.

took me a long time to learn to write like this without totally sounding sappy.
it was well worth the journey. Real love keeps you feeling fresh and growing, everything else is a lie.

This is beautiful, to have a love like that, to unfold over time and yet be fresh.. it is a true gift, a true gift indeed.

Real love invites us to a dance where we learn we wear wings.

I really loved all of this, the passionate love of life partners, the verse about getting dressed before kids came home was sweet and funny and this
Our ashes sprinkled
through the roots of roses
so we could hold hands
share kisses with every blossom
waking with the taste of dew.
is just fresh and beautiful, a very positive transcendent look at life continuing in new ways.
gorgeous write, best of luck in contest, not that you need luck.

True love expands both partners.

oh I like very much!!!!!!!!
stunning and so true, a magical love, perfect -
oh how lovely
this stole my heart indeed, thaks you for sharing this with me

We say we want love. We really are saying we want constant approval and attention. We we seek someone to share love with, we are seeking a partner. With a partner, we are free to explore and discover a universe and have someone who understands the magic we share with them.
Love, Tom B.

If only we could be dating for the rest of our lives instead of suffering the passing of time and the slow diminishing of love and romance.
This was a wonderful yearbook of words very honest and close to your heart

A true live constantly revitalizes itself and feel free to grow knowing you only provide more for the one that loves you to love.
