You remind me of someone from a subtle past-
like I’ve found the sea at last.
He tossed me forward, a wave of only truth untrue,
and left me with skies overcast.
On this journey I deemed it right to call him ‘you,’
but the sky today is new,
new beautiful glimpses of pain to be explored,
silver passion to pursue.
But if features of your face are to be ignored-
all my singing can afford-
I’ll break my aching heart and hang it on the mast,
say it was you I adored
and not the dim nostalgic shadows ghosting fast,
glimmers of time that cannot last.
In death you won’t know you merely reminded me
of someone from a subtle past.
Author notes
This is the most structured poem I've written in a while xD
Original, but based on the siren legend.
