The Glove

Missing image

Walking briskly outside
listening to Taylor Swift’s Fearless songs,
on the player you gave me….
the wind bites at my ears.

I fight to keep thoughts of you
out of my mind.

Christmas songs piping
throughout the park as the smell
of chocolate lingers in the air.
Snowflakes are dancing to the ground
like confetti colored lights

If your heart remains open
love will find its way in.
My heart was open
and you found that hole.
Thank you

The cold air forces me
to put on my gloves
and walk faster

We join the others on the bus for a
long drive to Atlantic City
sharing hours of company
and conversation….
and a walk on the beach.

Those special moments,

and hundreds of others,
will remind me of
Our Friendship…
and you will stay

in my heart forever.

Tears fill my eyes and sting my cheeks
as as I return to the office,

and I realize

I lost a glove.

just read and enjoy

    "If your heart remains open

I finally realized just how true this line is.

Unlike true friends.... gloves can be replaced.
It's good to see you grace the pages of AP again.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

    Has such sadness contained

    It hides so much more.
Cheryl I do hope things are looking up for you. It has been some time since I have seen you here, but think of you often as I do with other missing friends.

I would love to know the story behind this.

It is a beautiful glimpse at a friendship, one that may be on its way to something more, or maybe not.

Was it a farewell walk on the beach? That is the feel I get, but then again it could be the talk of you will always be my friend but.

You have left room for the reader to fill in some gaps, and that is the best kind of poetry.
