Seems in this economy
We're all trying to climb a ladder
That only leads down into the sewer
Me
All I'm trying to do
Is hold the darn thing in place
But that gets hard to do when it keeps moving
It's confusing
We're turning our heads searching for hope
But there's none to be found
Face it
We're all human
Prideful, arrogant, ignorant
Human
Try to help one
Three fall
I'm figuring it all out
Help no one
And no one extra is hurt
Though no one extra gets better
Total strangers dip their toes
In the nasty water of this town
Their feet slipping on a ladder
That instead of going up, goes down
Seems to me
We're finished here
Author notes
is there any hope left?
