Cassidy Kilrain of Klarney

Missing image
Cassidy in Kelly Green, of the Kilranes of Kilarney
was foremost of the forest folks, to fill ye up with blarney
a flagon of stout ale in hand, a bit of shamrock leaf,
tucked in his brier pipe, his charms beyond belief

Cassidy would count his coins and perch upon his gold
a cauldron full he had and more, or so I have been told
and none would 'ere be takin' it, for Cassidy would be
a workin' charms to take the soul of any thief ya see

An' Cassidy was quite the dandy, all the pixies said,
with eyes of cracklin' blue and mop of hair so fiery red
that as a leprechaun would go, he couldn't have been bested
an' sure there would be swoonin' and he always was requested

At every fine and fancy ball, where fairy wine would flow
and oat cakes topped the menu and surely he would go
oh Cassidy he was the man that all the folks did love
the finest of the leprechauns oh, that was sure enough

But, Cassidy went out one day into the forest deep
and there they say he met a fairy princess in her sleep
he stooped and put a kiss on her and sure she woke to see
the finest lad in all of time, the handsome Cassidy

She fell in love with him was sure, a love no one could break
and Cassidy was smitten too, there could be no mistake
they moved into the mushroom patch and built a cottage there
and sure their love that birthed that day, forever they did share.

And, Cassidy Kilrain of Klarney still lives there today
with  his fine and lovely in their cottage where they stay
and  rear their fine and festive clan the forest folks all say
Sir Cassidy and his fair  bride are lovers still this day.
