Banana

Banana, he's a yellow fruit
In Spring, upon a tree
He wears a green and unripe suit
There's none as fine as he.

But when the autumn comes along
He fattens up in size
And sings a fine and happy song
Which makes of him a prize.

And then we turn him inside out
We eat his inner wealth
He cannot speak, he cannot shout
How awful for his health.

I'd rather be a buttercup
Among the meadow grass
If someone came and plucked me up
New life would come to pass.

For other flowers would quickly grow
And fill the gap I'd left
My happy sisters, on they'd go
And I'd not be bereft.

Author notes

Even bananas have feelings. And flowers have little lives.

A very fine write, indeed. Imagery; rhythm and rhyme are just fine. It also reminds me of one which I wrote, called: "Bananas (Inspiration):

Fruit and veg with feelings :(

Oh they do indeed. Not a veggie (as you know) but WHAT will this do to them - the vegetarians??! Heartless you are. I, personally, have dedicated my time on allpoetry to writing the thoughts of Brussels Sprouts!! (mostly wind and wuthering).
Ah, but your last verse has a touch of forever gone about it. Other flowers fill the gaps. Mine will probably be a big white trumpety bindweed. x
Seriously now - this was both happy and sad for me.. Thanks chum. x
