I Am an Island

Upon this ocean,
I am an island of my own making ~

whilst many a storm
have tested my shores,
I've still yet to be assured
        my footing is sound.

O Lord,
if Thou doth send waves,
I pray Ye not pull me under

...or let me be lost at sea.

Crannog
10 Lines or less

A crannóg is an artificial island, usually originally built in lakes, rivers and estuarine waters, and most often used as an island settlement or dwelling place in prehistoric or medieval times. The name itself may refer to a wooden platform erected on shallow floors, but few remains of this sort have been found.

  • I'm assuming this is metaphorical and it is a scary feeling, the sense of being all alone. Well done.

  • To me this was more about life and how we are in a way all like islands. We have hardships and struggles and i suppose islands do too. I thought this was very well done.
