Hearts for Darfur

Missing image

Darfur.

Pain stained war.
Bitter uncaring indifference's..
Plagued by sad faces and mobbed places.
Our far away existence

sharing the same sky

darkened..

Now
aligned.

Your many senseless cries heard.
Unimaginable anguish and suffering,
you witness and feel.
Your children..
You against incredible odds.
Those...
We will never know.
I ask why...  why?

All I can do is cry.
No answers no understanding...
All eluding rationality and sweet sweet humanity.

Compassion late and abandoned.
Tenderness and love forgotten.
Dark empty souls, celebrate another
selfish and cruel act to partake,

themselves accustomed and numb.

My knees drop, accumulation of tears

filling up and seeping through the cracks

in my deep heart.

For my understanding,

gifted with more frustration and

your many fears.

Baskets filled with grim sadness and broken dreams.

Brutality forced on the smallest

not swift enough to run.

Weakened trying to survive.

What your eyes must see.

Injustice will soon take it's finale step

and the torturer will be known

In a constant sound of a lonely drum,

realizing he is now  forever alone.

My dream...

A ship,
the cargo..
Hearts.
All shapes sizes,

unfolding all the frightful grips.

Sacrifices made

foundations laid..
Returned lost days.
Hearts handed out one by one
leading you..
To that peaceful place.

Wow, I often would feel this emotion too, that others younger than us die, never to experience or live as long as we have. This was powerful and well done write. Blessings.

Darfur for all intents and purpose to the outside governments of this world does not exist, if it were oil rich or mineral rich they'd be knocking down the door to aid them and right the wrongs. This is the ignorance of the outside world as to what happens in African cities, be it here or in Rwanda, Somalia, Botswana. The poverty, disease and corruption that abounds in these places is abhorrent yet not enough make the noise in the right spots to be heard. Governments fear sending aid as the governments are not to be trusted with it ever getting to the people and they are not prepared to up the packages to enable food and medicine that is so desperately needed to get in, due to corrupt regimes taking this also. UN and peace keeping forces have no power unless given it and stand helplessly by while these atrocities continue. It's tragic, it's heartbreaking and sadly to those who refuse to see it..it is REAL. I commend you for saying all you have said and never stop saying and doing something to bring this to the world's attention C

      Thank you so very much!!

I really so appreciate all you said here.
Your words are another part of my voice which is
partly why I wrote this piece.Like you I understand all the ramifications
the cruelty the abuse the non caring attitude and hearts of so many that
should be doing the entire opposite of what their not.
Our Government is not excluded...Or any other nation.
I appreciate you and your kind words your insight.
      Thank you so much.
      Best

You are so welcome, it's nice to meet another voice that feels this way. I think Bono said it best
"The world is not so large that we can dictate who is not our neighbors anymore" and that's a very true statement, we should extend the hand to each and all. Keep shouting and sharing

  • You touch us once again - across the miles

Ours is global village, much to our increasing chagrin.

How can we comprehend or even respond to a world of pain and heartache?

                          One at a time.  .  .  . one at a time.

As awareness opens our eyes may it also open our hearts.

Thank you for your awareness and your compassion.
