The Library Book Sale
The old man found a book that day
Yellowed leaves twixt covers gray
An unnamed author give-a-way
Shunned by time and fame
Like the fog a ghostly tome
On that rainy afternoon
As though the tales there-in inscribed
Held the love they'd been denied
Published in nineteen hundred five
For lost love their candles burn
For that which everybody yearns
Above all other concerns
Time flew by on lonely nights
Of romantic twists and turns
Hearts torn tossed lost and scorned
Soothing the old man's soul forlorn
Making him feel less weary and worn
One dark night a specter appeared
A lovely lady with smile demure
whispered sweetly in his ear
'At last a lover reads our words'
To Halcyon heights we now adjourn
Please tell me what you think

What a wonderful story in a poem. Love the ending, a smile befitting this piece. Bravo!

Wonderful Poem
This was such a delight to read. I am in the process of writing my very first book of romance poems so this was wonderful to read. Love the story you tell and the flow and rhyme were perfect. Take care.
Hugs and Smiles, Sandy
