Off with your head!

It twas a lovely summer's day,
a day like any other,
when I stumbled across some creatures-
the Mad Hare and his brother.

Now before I go too far ahead,
hear my warning plea-
the two of them were celebrating the day of the living dead.

'Would goldie locks like to join us?'
the man with the top hat asked,
I was about to take my leave,
but the Mad Hare made a fuss-
'Twinkle twinkle little brat, who are you to leave like that?
The tea is fresh and the day is young,
and there's no happy song we have not sung'

'I am in much of a hurry to see the Queen of Hearts,
I must get to court before she departs!'
I took a seat next to the singing cat,
'Half a cup, two sugars?' asked the man with the hat.
And I was about to reply,
as a serious white rabbit came dashing by,
'I'm late, I'm late, I'm very very late'
he said whilst glaring at the Hare with hate.

The Mad Hare sneered and tapped his toe,
'I must ask dear, do you take tea high or low?'
And with a menacing laugh he jumped into a tree,
that was it, I had to break free!

'This is not very amusing at all' I whined,
'come down now, or you just might fall!'
The words had barely left my mouth,
when Mad Hare yelled- 'Let's take a trip down South!'
The earth beneath me gave in,
and slowly I started to lose my skin.

This was utter nonsense!
Surely these creatures had a conscience?
The world beneath was upside down,
and on the horison was the queen with her crown.
'Off with her head!'
her shrilling voice screeched,
'upon you all, my wrath is unleashed!'
The Mad Hare laughed his sordid laugh,
but I for one had had enough!
As we were drawing nearer,
I saw my reflection in a passing mirror.
Such a horrific sight I had never seen!
I went from goldie locks, to a dying zombie teen!

With rage I glared at the Mad Hare -
'This is all your fault, I must declare!'
With one quick move I snapped his neck,
away-away, flew the stupid speck.
He left us all with his menacing laughter,
as I moved closer to my very own slaughter.

haha. a-mazing write. I truly love it!
how ever, your title of your poem needs to be that of "off with your head" unfortunatly, I mean seeing as it is a prewrite you could always change it back after the contest lol. but in order to make it fair I need for you to change the title to off with your head or one of the other titles. I truly enjoyed this piece, and would hate to see you not place just because of one mistake. sorry for this really I am but I love to make my contests fair! thanks so much for entering.
    this piece is bloody brillant!
    best of luck to you!

I think this is great! It works much of the Alice story into a macabre comedy of sorts, and with some creative language too!

I'd love to give a critical comment but it's not clear that would be welcome...anyways, not on a rival competition entry either

    Good luck!

  • Nice

i like the zombie part, very original
    FINALIST!!!

  • Wow, this was ever so good.
The stanza was really my favorite part.
It just breathed such life into the end.

Keep writing & good luck in the contest!

  • You have given an even darker aspect to the story and the characters, very original. It just goes to show us that offers of free tea do come with a price attached!

Thank you for entering my contest.
