I have no Mother

Missing image
She is gone

To the edge of sorrow's chill
Lingering

Waiting
In frozen auric hues

Where crystals of ice
Blossom

Into creeping numbness
Which devours

My soul

Author notes

Very moving. Words set in the right place that concentrates the shock of pain's intensity. My mother died on January 31. In a dream this morning I heard a piano playing a song she used to sing before I was born, 'Wildwood Flower'.

Oh Briareus, what a beautiful dream to have! I am sure she was letting you know that she is still around you... Thanks for commenting and I hope your grief mellows into fond remembrances for you soon, as I am sure our Mothers would want for us.
      Much Love,

It's very hard to cope with the loss of a loved one.

As I read the poem, I had the feeling that you were talking about yourself, instead of your mom... as if it was you the one who have enclosed yourself in a state of hopelesness... Maybe my perception is wrong. I just hope her soul finds rest, and your soul as well.
