Last Express Column

I’ve been at City College seven years, and for the last two–and-a-half years of this
insanely long tenure I have been part of the Express in some manner\or another. I have accomplished almost everything I set out to on this newspaper; so effective Dec. 17, I am officially retiring from the Express.

Despite the fact that I have learned and accomplished a lot, it hasn’t been perfect—especially my coverage of certain sports this semester. I would like to take this time to apologize to the wrestling, volleyball and golf teams for the unintentionally lackluster coverage of these sports this semester, as well as congratulate them on their postseason runs.

The wrestling team is fifth in the state, and will be wrestling Saturday at Fresno City College at the North Regional. The volleyball team is ranked third in the Nor-Cal Regional Playoffs, and will play El Camino College tomorrow tonight. The golf team finished 97-13 overall and 76-8 in the Nor-Cal Conference, where they were named this season’s champions.

I would like to thank Express advisers Dianne Heimer and Doug Herndon (aka mommy and daddy journalism), journalism instructor Jan Haag, design adviser Don Button and Mainline adviser Dawn Blunk for putting up with my weird and hyper personality for this long. I assure you that the eye twitch will go away — eventually, I think.

I assure everyone, readers and advisers alike, that my anger at Brett Favre earlier this semester was very real and you can take this retirement seriously. Unlike Favre the Boney-head, I am fully committed to my Express retirement. That being said, I’m not being put in the sports writer retirement home. Like my sports-columnist idol Rick Reilly, I’m switching publications. I’ll be working on Mainline magazine next semester, so I encourage everyone to check it out.

Please tell me what you think

Ah by Fall you wind up in New York writing for a paper there...just like Favre.

Nicely written as I said before (and you tried to shoot down, unsuccessfully btw)

Things change, we move on. But you'll be writing Mainline, and that is the main thing, to be writing.

And when able, you'll post your columns here for an old friend to read, right?

And yes...the Boneys will be an annual thing. Every September though.

Because I'm stubborn, you can't prove anything about my writing from this semester's issue of Mainline. One, you don't know how much I paid the adviser to let me be Editor of the mag. Two, the only thing I'm writing is the editor's note that goes at the end. I farmed everything else out so I wouldn't really have to write all that much.
