Ahhh… the birthday, inevitable as it may be
Unless, of course we should wish too hard
To not have them anymore, not a wise thing to do
Considering the options as you will see
I mean, what if we passed by our birthday
It really wouldn’t allow us to stay young
The wrinkles would still come, the gray, too
We’d just keep getting older along the way
So what the hell, let’s celebrate in style
Enjoy the day for what it is, what it means
Eat cake and ice cream, maybe booze it up a bit
Be thankful for the years we’ve lived all the while
For soon enough it’ll all come to an end
Be gone, all life’s candles blown out
Perhaps only then will we realize what we’ve had
Be thankful for each year, each and every friend
So Happy Birthday, I’ll sing my song to you
A little off key perhaps, but sincere just the same
You deserve many more to come and go
Celebrate and collect all the good wishes due
