a sunset is beauty.
beauty in splendid shades of
orange, and turqoise,
and purpley-pinks,
made alive with splashes of radiant gold....
coming from our sun.
an individual sunset will rise and,
within a specified amount of time,
fall. never to be seen in that
form/shape/color/hue
for the rest of existence as we know it.
so..
how does one capture a sunset in all of its beauty,
for it is true beauty,
but also instill in the image its originality?
a photograph could be taken. but,
if another viewer of this beautiful sunset
had the same photograph, would it instill
the sunset's originality?
a painting-preferably on canvas- would be
the preferred method of preserving the sunset
in all of its originality (as paintings are original). but,
would there be enough time to complete a painting
that would justify all of the sunset's magnificence?
Maybe sunsets are so beautiful, because they know
they aren't meant to last.
Author notes
A poem I just wanted to write.............
partially inspired by the sunset I saw on the way home from umpiring a baseball game tonight.....
hope you enjoyed. it felt good to write it.
Your honest thoughts please?

Beautiful! I can see it . God's creation alive with colors. So thankful you appreciate it, poet man.
Sorry to edit, but "their" in the fourth line from bottom should be "there" I think? I love you! (an honest thot)

Very Nice :)
Well bro I got a few things to chime about in about this poem:
1st off: I would have to agree to disagree with you on the painting method. I agree that a painting is an original and always will be and I agree that t would capture every pin point perfect detail BUT I disagree as well because I also believe a drawing can be drawn to that perfection as well of a setting sunset and well a painting granted takes longer & is better in the long run but a drawing can be just as beautiful & in a tinge less of time
#2: as for the photographs its true a picture can paint a thousand words and everyone will formulate an opinion but I also find it amazing how photography can add a whole new definition of beauty.
Any ways over all your poem painted an incredible picture and I really love how you had me ponder and voice my opinion on your poem. any ways a brilliant write and I liked the feel and the idea inspired behind this. keep up the good work as always bro & keep on penning away these words we call poetry Me

mmm, there are some gorgeous sunsets on the way home from the ballpark...
i <3 purpley-pinks and the way the poem ends...there's some grammar-y things i could say, but who cares when you're talking about something so beautiful, it's simple to get the image of past-viewed gorgeous sunsets in the reader's mind and just let go of the rest...i like this page background too!! it reminds me of some japanese paper we almost used for our wedding invites.

Lovely and Very original.
Maybe sunsets are so beautiful, because they know
they aren't meant to last.
this line(s) is a very good description of why sunsets don't last. It makes me think that the sunset is devious and sneaky in a really awesome way. Very great poem. I needed to read something like this for somereason it cheers me up.
