Disillusion of a Friend

You went to him,
like a sacrificial ram
to a fat-shouldered demon.
Unknowing,
not wanting to know;
you were myopic to the truth,
lithe white wisp.

He bored a hole
in your sapling chest.
That putrid, angry beetle
sucked out your golden marrow
and let in a damp and graceless world.

I had to watch.
