Mate of My Soul

I beseech thee come
to my river of placidness,
to lie with me
by crystal lakes of joy

Oh benevolent gentlemen
of my desire,
whisper enchantments
in my ear

for I yearn to know
your heart and soul,
even as mine is yours
to bravely inquire

unfold the layers
of my delicate parts,
engage me in tenderness
for I adore you

willing is my heart
to dine in endless myths,
to ascertain loves
ambrosial flame

in the obscurity
of our uniqueness,
bound as wed
forever in ecstasy

perfect! such imagery!!! i love reading work as good as this. truely inspiring thank you!

  • Outstanding

This can not have been easy to do - writing from the perspective of the opposite sex. I thought this was a moving poem that speaks of the unity that women dream of - the perfect love of soul mates. I liked the first stanza the most- it is a dramatic opening that speaks of love. Best of luck in the contest.

Wow, I like the role reversal. This is very old school classical. I really enjoyed this. You are a master in every style of poetry. Great write. Good luck in the contest. - cgirl0410

  • Ah. love is so nice. What a pity is nearly always ends in bitterness and boredom. Those ambrosial flames oft-times turn into dull embers of dried up zilch.

  • This is breath-taking!
