How Far Can You Push Without Defying Newton’s 3rd Law?

When you know you’re getting lost and you don’t want to be found
When you say the same words and you’re still making no sound
When you’re giving up before even giving it a try
When you laugh out so hard and it makes you cry
When you hold onto a moment fearing the feeling will end soon
When you want to be break free but you’re bound to the cocoon
When you want to get some help but you don’t know whom to ask
When the entire world seems like a stage and you’ve lost your mask

When you try to believe you’re something you only want yourself to be
When you lose all your senses will you compromise, negotiate or foresee?
When you feel no feeling and dream no dream will you still pretend to be real?
When you give without thinking and get twice in return doesn’t it feel surreal?
When markets seem to crash, money’s evaporating; will you freeze the wanting now?
When people criticize will you take offence, fight back or smile and just know how
When will you decide whether it’s the goodwill or fortune that you choose to inherit?
Will you hide the last bit of humanity left in your heart or will you learn how to use it?

When you’re told you’re too young will you wait to grow old?
Will you fight for what you’ve believed in or just become cold?
When you try something that scares you does it mean you don’t fear it anymore?
Will you continue to ride with the flow even when it has ebbed from your shore?
Will you follow the ideals that the world around you has chosen to define?
Will you hold onto our possessions, will yours ever really someday also be mine?
When you stand out in a crowd of unique people will you learn how to blend?
When you brush against a like mind, in a stranger will you make a new friend?

Good things usually happen to good people at least that’s what I’ve been told
Stepping right out of the darkness you fumble and step deep into the cold
A worn out body, a surviving tale, fearful heart, depleted brain and brave soul
Just how long will you still keep seeing the doughnut and not notice the hole?

  • The background paired with the concentration of the words made it hard to read. But I like how the lines rhyme, and I like the message. Thank you for entering.

Some good stuff here but rather long, I do like the doughnut and hole line. It is the space in and betwean things which makes our world

    Long, but very interesting.
    my favorite part -

"Will you continue to ride with the flow even when it has ebbed from your shore?"

  • Is that the law about inertia? Your talk about going with the flow sounds like it. I enjoyed this write. You really packed in a lot of interesting ideas about people and this time we live in.
