It might be slimy and full of mud,
keep swearing that it is stupid
staying in a place
that makes you miserable.
So you find a book about ladders
read every page
then toss it aside
once you find out the author
wrote it from his own pit.
On rare occasions
the heart finds special strength
for one moment of incredible success
until you find yourself standing above,
feeling so fantastic because you got free,
but it doesn’t take long
before you find a way to trip
and end up back in that same rut.
What is joy is this game
comes from avoiding admitting
how the real chasm
can be found in the head
with it being the cavity
impossible to escape
since it is merely an expression
of something missing inside.

aww Good take on the prompt.
Being in the rut or getting out of it. Some times it's not greener on the other side.
Well done.
Lots of love your way
thanks for your comment. -
very very good take. first stanza reveals, tells about the hole, second is how can someone manage to get out, and lastly the most impressive how you tell us that it isn't really something physical, and though i would like to think it isn't impossible to escape it only seems so, but really you thought, and you thought exacltly perfectly right, that it is merely an expression of something missing inside... very well done
