Unavoidable

This one thing we all share
One unavoidable shared experience.
Sweep it under the carpet,
Don't fear it, just wait.

It takes someone every second,
Capturing their souls onto yonder.
The one inevitability, so common
Yet it shakes us every time.

We ask ourselves:
Why do people have to die?
Why must they always leave?
The answer is simple and known

To make life even more important.

Author notes

Just a thing I wrote to get some thoughts out of my mind. Inspired by quotes and finale of 6 Feet Under.

i thought this as well organized, and I love the last line. Your first stanza really drew me in which is always refreshing. The theme is so interesting because it is so true. I like the idea of life being so important because one day we don't have it.

Nicely thought out. I love that you actually answer your own questions instead of just wondering. Nicely described too. It is strange... no matter how much we see it or how much we accept it it still does "shake" us every time. Nicely written.

It took it as, death is everywhere around and in a spilt second it could take someone. We don't sit around in fear of death but death is right next to us. With death it gives life meaning, and thats the simplicity of it. Death isn't some complicated giant monster that we can't grasp but instead death is someone who pushes us along each day and gives us meaning. Without death we would have no point, no reason and no existence and no reaosn to be what we want to be and there would be no reason to care.

    Beautiful and simple poem Ashy.

I think life is insignificant, but anway...

But I like how you expressed that as humans we dread answering some of lifes questions ourselves because we won't like the answers we get.

    If that's what you meant.....

Anyways, I like the more neutral stance you took

That's not really the message I was trying to put out there. I was trying to make death seem more simple than that with my last line. But if that's how you thought of it that's cool too.
