Whatever happened to the simple things
i can't even see the sun set anymore
days are filled with words which really could be left unsaid
but we say them anyway
its been one year
since i came into this world
with bright blue eyes and nothing to lose
and things are different now
i never thought that people could change so much
but they can and
they have
i should have known that soil can only ever be dirt
and that i will only ever be me
but i thought i could be different
i thought i could change
now i now the truth
i left innocence at the red lights and jaywalked away
there was no need for tears or fears or me
i thought about leaving for a while
but then i realized that i'm already lost
