Her Heart Expired

Her Heart Expired

Her beauty was beyond compare;
her heart majestic, this lass fair.
She did not know she had great wealth;
her only goal, her fam'ly's health.

Her reputation knew no bounds,
known to all in countries and towns;
for her tender love could nourish.
Thus, all who knew her did flourish.

Men the world over desired her,
lusted for ev'ry piece of her;
in time, each tearing her apart,
depleting her all-loving heart.

These men in Armani britches
only wanted of her riches.
They fought and battled bitterly;
determined she their queen would be.

Her body was used and abused;
yet, when she fell, God they accused.
She shook and trembled, her face scarred;
her tender arms bloody and marred.

Now the fam'ly had no support.
Her ire flared in fiery report,
and tears flowed in raging torrents:
of men, she'd become abhorrent.

Her kids were thirsty and hungry,
making her more hurt and angry.
She reeled and cried, about to die . . .

Earth expired with a heavy sigh.

    Yes, wanted and hoarded by so many...Mother Earth is crying out and thank God, some are listening. As we came from her, we'll return to her...hmmm. A bit of irony there, huh? To abuse and disregard the source of so many blessings only to end up returning to the source. This was wonderful 'food for thought' BonnieQ. Thank you for posting it.

    Powerful, sad write, Bonnie. I don't think Earth will die, at least not for another 5 billion years as long as the sun continues to burn. i think with global warming there will be major changes to what we see on the Earth climate-wise, but I think Earth itself will continue on living. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

      Thank you, Haley. As I mentioned to Nick, who said the same as you, "No, earth will not die, but she will take a 1000 year Sabbath rest for recovery." Earth is depleted and truly can no longer support life. As you say, sad, very sad.

      Luv & hugs, BonnieQ

  • Earth will never die, or expire, who says that where
    She holds back her wealth to panish her sons but gives in abandance when due, though I know how you mean in this write
    Poeticly we can creat angells and monsters
    I for one do not believe anyone can hurm Earth, man is too small to do so
    As for the pollusion they are talking about, it only affects man not the planet
    But like all living entities, Earth will die and be reborn, like she has done so many times before
    All acounts from the bible to fiction speak of total destruction upon Earth
    Matter needs to be renewed, even gods die
    Imortality lays in the process of renewal
    A sweet write about our Mother
