I am forever writing farewells,
Goodbyes, au revoirs, see you nevers.
Everyday passing the past -
Places with embedded memories,
Wreckages long since sunk,
Dredging up bitter-tinged phantoms
Of something that once was.
The grey, stone-hued silence
Leaves an indifferent numbness
With the shiny, sparkling newness
Now a mere fairytale,
A glimmer, a hazy afterthought -
Buried deep within the dregs of what wasn't.
Another disaster, another catastrophe,
Another farewell.
Author notes
It seems I am forever saying goodbye
